Flourishing Advantage Pilot Initiative

Dr Wayne Hammond has supported me since I started my company Cool Family Solutions (CFS) in 2008. How has he supported CFS? He designed a questionnaire for our clients to complete a questionnaire revealing the strengths they have and areas to grow.

In 2024, we adopted his new version of the questionnaire Flourishing Life, a strength-based approach to coaching and skill development empowering clients to build on their existing strengths, cultural values, and resilience to foster long-term success. This approach not only supports personal and familial well-being but also enhances clients' capacity to perform effectively in occupational settings, leading to greater satisfaction, adaptability, and success in all areas of life. By focusing on thriving rather than merely surviving, this model creates a foundation for a fulfilling and purposeful life.

Dr Hammond provided a report outlining the key findings and outcomes from the application of the strengths-based approach of the Cool Family Solutions'intervention, including its impact on participants' resilience, well-being, and performance skills. The report highlights both quantitative and qualitative results, illustraing the model's effectiveness in promoting sustainable personal growth, mental health, and overall life satisfaction. Through these insights, Cool Family Solutions continues to refine its approach to strengths-based coaching, with the goal of fostering lasting resilience and well-being among all program members.

How the Cool Family Solutions Strengths-Based Approach differs from Traditional Support Programs:

  1. Shift from Problem-Focused to Growth Focused- strength-based approach focus to what clients can do, what they have achieved, how they can grow and emphasizes their potential.

  2. Empowermen vs Risk Mitigation - the strength-based approach seeks to empower clients to thrive equipping them with skills and confidence to pursue meaningful goals.

  3. Building on Existing Capacities rather than Filling Gaps - strength-based approach begins by recognizing and building upon clients' existing strengths, fostering a sense of competence and resourcefulness

  4. Cultural Relevance and Personal Connection - strengths-based approach is personalized and culturally responsive, respecting each client's background, values and community ties.

  5. Focus on Thriving, Not Just Coping - strengths-based program aims to help clients thrive. This approach fosters a positive mindset that values resilience, self-efficacy, and the pursuit of a fulfilling life.
